A Silent Scroll of Water Come to Life ,  Wu Yawen

The design inspiration is derived from the water paintings of Ma Yuan, a Southern Song dynasty painter in China. In traditional Chinese landscape paintings, water is often depicted alongside mountains. However, Ma Yuan's water paintings focus solely on water, and beneath the strokes of ink and brush, a silent scroll of water seems to come to life. It portrays the rippling waves of a shimmering lake and the rolling clouds and surging waves of the mighty Yangtze River. These dynamic elements bestow a sense of beauty in motion to the water. In this series of designs, the dynamic nature of water is captured by integrating various weaving techniques and applying them to clothing, thus depicting a unique Eastern aesthetic.
