"Huangmei Tiaohua" was included in China's intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. In 2022, my connection with Huangmei Tiaohua began when I participated in the Internet+ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. From initially being unfamiliar with it, I later continued to conduct innovative research on Huangmei Tiaohua with the support of my teachers. Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of intangible cultural heritage in Hubei. It is more than just a cultural heritage; it also embodies the aspirations of Huangmei people for a better future and their love for life.

During the creative process, I collected a large number of Huangmei Tiaohua patterns and extracted elements from them. Each small element is a refined representation of the object, filled with the characteristics of Tiaohua cross-stitch. Its form coincided with the craft of weaving with latitude and longitude lines. Therefore, I planned to use weaving techniques to complete it within a small wooden frame measuring 30x30cm. During this time, I encountered challenges with color matching, so I researched various color-related materials and investigated recent color trends to re-color the Tiaohua patterns. In terms of content innovation, I learned and imitated the concise representation of objects, seeking inspiration from life and creating many interesting character images. The entire design process allowed me to transition from stiffness to a more liberated state, and I could better appreciate the joy of Tiaohua. This design is not the endpoint but rather the starting point for continued research. In the future, I will continue to create interesting Tiaohua patterns, allowing others to see the beauty and experience the fun of Tiaohua.
